Inadequate fire doors affecting hygiene control
The contractor, who must remain anonymous for official reasons, is based in the East of England and provides critical deployment services for global assignments.
“These are busy premises and my department is populated with over 250 personnel,” says the Programmes Manager. “It was generally felt that our fire alarm system was not adequately safeguarding our staff. The area I work in has 15 fire doors, which create a lot of touchpoints for staff to be in regular contact with.”
The Programmes Manager and his team were looking for ways to improve overall fire safety, whilst boosting hygiene measures by reducing these touchpoints.

Dorgard SmartSound is a wireless fire door retainer that holds open fire doors. Installed onto the bottom of the fire door in under five minutes, Dorgard SmartSound will release to close the doors upon the sound of the fire alarm.
“The Dorgard SmartSound allows us to legally keep our fire doors open, whilst also providing crucial ventilation. The corridors feel much more open and safe now,” explains the Programmes Manager. “We’ve had these Fireco products for some time now and the equipment is very reliable.”
