Fire doorset replacement to keep care home compliant

THE PROBLEM
“There was a change in legislation regarding the residential front doors, so we needed to source some replacements for an upgrade,” explains Michael Hollingdale, resident and director of the holding company.
The residents are accountable for fire actions within the property, and as such, they were proactively seeking improvements to flat doors, including inspection and replacement. Certification was required for every part of the job.
Michael continues, “In an effort to pre-empt the situation, we carried out reasonable research to identify the best ways to move forward. We got in touch with Fireco, and their quotes seemed very favourable compared to another company we approached.”
The building has 76 other flats on site that require new doors. Customers wanted to try a pilot for four doors to make sure they were happy before proceeding with further work. The existing doors are built into the wall, so making sure they are undamaged is key.
the solution
Four complete front entrance door sets were installed, each comprising the fire door itself and also its associated fixtures, including the fire door frame. This ensures comprehensive safety and functionality.
A key element was aesthetics, as the customer didn’t want surface-mounted closers. Fireco specified doors with a slightly bigger vision panel to allow increased light through the doors as these are high-rise apartments.
We also specified a concealed closer, built into the frame. This is a certified unit that is fully adjustable for the residents.
Fireco offers fully certified, primary-tested doorsets that combine the highest level of quality with the best certification. Door installation, if required, is carried out by our network of professionals, all with third-party BMTRADA accreditation.
We also offer a free measure-up and quote service.
